Founded in 1995

Founded in 1995 in Huntsville by Robert Hodges, Mark Green and Jeff Cole, Specon Systems, Inc. has been a leader and innovator in the specialty contracting sector, delivering exceptional results and exceeding customers expectations for 30 years.

Focused primarily on structural and interior metal stud framing, commercial drywall systems, acoustical ceilings and other specialty products, the company has completed a vast and varied array of projects of all types and sizes. It has widespread experience with Health Care Facilities, Institutional/and Educational Projects, Retail, Corporate Offices, Federal, State and Local Government projects and specialty construction. It is comfortable working on projects of any size and level of detail and prides itself on meeting all challenges and deadlines required.

Established the Birmingham office in 2000

In 2000 seeking out new opportunities and to improve our performance, with the hiring of John Hall Specon opened a Birmingham division to better service central Alabama. Specon has always believed that the success of a business depends on the quality and performance of its people.

We’ve prioritized the recruitment of the best employees and subcontractors and encouraged their continuous improvement through training and learning new developments in the industry to maintain and improve client satisfaction. In January of 2025 the leadership and ownership of Specon Systems transitioned to the team of employees Jeff Donald, Doug Zeiger and Roy Canales.

Doug Zeiger

CEO

Doug holds a B.A. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama – Birmingham. He has worked in engineering, business finance, and commercial construction.

Jeff Donald

COO

Jeff serves as Chief Operations Officer at SPECON, overseeing all operational aspects of the company. Jeff began his tenure at SPECON in the fall of 2001 in the role of Project Estimator.

As Preconstruction Officer with over a decade of experience in the drywall construction industry, Roy

Founder & VP of Preconstruction

Jeff was a founding partner with Specon Systems in 1995 and has since been the VP of preconstruction in the Huntsville, AL office.

Mark Green

Founder & VP of Operations

A founder of Specon, Mark’s current responsibilities are managing the day to day operations of the Huntsville division after selling his shares in January of 2025.
